This Mother’s Day make a commitment to yourself to show up in a way that provides you with the ultimate self-care and nourishment for your mind and your body. Make Mother’s Day the day you honor your motherhood by giving yourself the love and attention you have given to others each day. Taking the time to invest in yourself is essential for your overall health and well-being. Here are 9 great examples on how you can spend the day practicing self-care.

  1. Movement – Enjoy walking, dancing, yoga, or swimming. Find what you really enjoy doing and move your body! Physical activity is a great way to boost your mood and make you feel energized!
  2. Get outside – Take a walk or just relax outside. The fresh air and sunlight will have you feeling revitalized. Soaking up the sunlight can help regulate your sleep cycle and improve your sleep. Feel free to go to bed early and catch up on those Zzzs.
  3. Make time for play – This is a great time to make a list of all the hobbies you enjoy doing and schedule them into your daily routine. This is an opportunity for you to take the time to bring joy back into your life.
  4. Nourish your body with healthy foods and stay hydrated – Eat a variety of vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins to feel your best. Keep a water bottle with you to stay hydrated and refreshed!
  5. Saying “No thank you!” – Think about what is really important to you and what is not. Let others know what you need and what you don’t need. If you need help with how to communicate this to others, please talk with your Livea consultant and they can provide some great suggestions for setting healthy boundaries with friends and family. Setting healthy boundaries can have a great impact on our self-esteem and self-respect. It can empower us to make healthy decisions for ourselves and improve our relationships.
  6. Connections – Relationships are very important for our wellbeing. Take the time to reconnect with friends and family members to help strengthen your relationships.
  7. Self-reflection and meditation – Take some time to discover what you really need and want. Think about what is important to you and what your goals are. Take a moment to write down your goals. Writing down your goals can increase the chances of accomplishing them. If you need time to clear your mind, meditation can be a great tool to help with mind clarity and focus.
  8. Learn something new – Take the time to learn something new, whether it be a new skill or something just for fun. Learning new things can help with cognitive function and help to build confidence. It can boost your memory and concentration.
  9. Practice positivity – Take a few minutes a day to do self-affirmations and positive self-talk. The more you tell yourself something, the more you will start to believe it and attract it. Also practicing gratitude is another way to increase happiness and self-awareness. Practicing early in the morning can jump start your day on a positive note and before bedtime can help enhance restful sleep.

Now that you have a self-care toolbox, feel free to practice these for Mother’s Day or any day you need extra attention! You are worth putting the time into yourself and remember that when you are at your best, that’s when you can be the best for others! Happy Mother’s Day from everyone at Livea!
