Holiday Survival Tips

The Holidays can be the hardest time for people that are trying to lose weight, or maintain their weight loss – but it doesn’t have to be that way. Though there are many tantalizing food options around during this time of the year, you can still effectively maintain your weight loss goals by keeping these tips in mind.

Don’t forget that the Holidays are about spending time with your loved ones – not about the food, so it’s okay to give yourself a little wiggle room and have fun!

To start exploring, simply move your cursor over the red hearts!

When you know you're going somewhere that will have plenty of unhealthy treats, it's always a good idea to bring your own snacks. By having your own healthy option, you can skip out on those other offerings.

Send leftovers home with your guests, especially leftovers of desserts and other less-than-healthy dishes.

You can easily avoid overeating by being smart about your plate size. Choosing a smaller salad plate rather than eating off of a full-sized dinner plate gives you less space to pile on extra food – making portion control a breeze.

When creating your holiday menu, consider preparing healthy alternatives to the standard holiday dishes, like serving roasted spaghetti squash rather than carb filled mashed potatoes, or making homemade soup.

Offer healthy alternatives to your standard holiday snacks. For instance, replace the traditional cheese and crackers with a veggie tray and light ranch dressing. Plus, you can have fun with the presentation by making veggie shooters!

When preparing your holiday spread, avoid grazing, or taking multiple "tastes" of dishes. Instead, keep a glass of water by your side and take a sip when you're tempted to snack.

If you’re headed to a party or gathering, a great tip to avoid overeating is to never arrive with an empty stomach. If youaren’t ravenous when you get there, you won’t be as tempted to eat everythingin sight – regardless of how unhealthy it may be.

Instead of being tempted to consume an alcoholicbeverage or two, make sure you bring some Medifast Infusers with you so thatyou can enjoy a tasty beverage without the calories!

Keep your attention elsewhere. By actively participating in games and conversations - away from the food table - you'll cut down on the temptation to snack.
