Why did you pursue a career in the weight loss and wellness industry?

As someone who has struggled with health and weight issues in my life, I know how good it feels to finally realize that you are worth taking care of yourself. I love helping people get to that point! It is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. How food affects our bodies and what exercise does to our muscles is fascinating to me, as well. I am a Personal Trainer with a Sports Nutrition focus, Certified Health Coach, 200YTT yoga instructor…I guess you could say health and wellness is definitely a focus in my life!

What is your favorite part about working for Livea?

One of the most important things to me is our philosophy of Servant Leadership, for not only our clients, but also our Team. It’s something I’ve always brought to the various workplaces I’ve been in, so I loved seeing that as a major tenet of Livea. And the Team! Such fun, dedicated people! I’ve enjoyed working with everyone I’ve met and can’t wait to build those connections even more.

What is the best advice that you’ve been given in your career?

That the sign of a good leader is being able to delegate, which to me means sharing of knowledge and responsibility so all can contribute to making our business succeed. And that you can’t fill others up from an empty cup, so I try to fully take advantage of my time outside of work to relax and unwind. Bringing my best self to Livea is very important to me.

Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

I used to say that I like to read a lot, but I’ve been an editor for a publishing company for about 3 years now, so I don’t get to read for fun much anymore! I’m sort of a grammar geek, so editing helps fulfill that part of my soul.  I knit, work out, hang out with my kids, Amelia, 19, and Abraham, 17, when they let me, and I am infinitely curious about pretty much everything in the world, so I do a lot of research on many things.

What is one thing that many people don’t know about you?

That I am a huge nerd! I get ridiculously excited about everything, from going to a tractor pull to learning a new belly dance to hearing there’s a new Star Trek series out! Hmm…maybe me being a nerd isn’t such a secret after all.
